And the Nominations Are ...
Friends, I have some unexpectedly incredible news:
I'm honored to announce that our piece “How George Floyd was Killed in Police Custody” has been nominated for an EMMY AWARD* alongside five other New York Times Visual Investigations into police misconduct and racial injustice.
Collectively, our videos document deadly police misconduct that "directly contradicted official accounts or revealed crucial details. Each helped trigger a national reckoning with a problem as old as the nation itself."
It has been a truly heartbreaking and deeply moving experience covering the George Floyd story for the last year, and I am thrilled and humbled by our nomination.
But more so, I am grateful to the other producers, cinematographers, graphics and animation specialists, reporters, photographers, editors, and all those who go unnamed at The New York Times for allowing me the privilege of working alongside them.

Special kudos to the incredible Mike Shum (congrats, my friend), Robin Stein, Sarah Kerr, Haley Willis, Christiaan Triebert, Whitney Hurst, David Botti, Hanaan Sarhan, Jonah M. Kessel, Erik Ljung, Dmitriy Khavin and every single person on the Visual Investigations desk as well as all the other Emmy nominees! (And shoutout to central security for keeping us safe this past year. High fives).
